Nevada politicians react to apparent assassination attempt on former president

Following the announcement made by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) that it is conducting an investigation into “what appears to be an attempted assassination” on former President Donald Trump, lawmakers from nationally and locally expressed their thoughts.

The muzzle of an AK-style rifle was found peeking out of a bush on a golf course at Mar-a-Lago, which is President Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Florida. The discovery was made by an agent of the United States Secret Service.

The agent found the suspect, who was later determined to be Ryan Routh, a couple of holes ahead of where Trump was playing the game.

A GoPro camera, two bags, and an AK-style rifle were among the items that Routh left behind when the agent fired his weapon and then escaped in an SUV. The president was shot during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, and this alleged second attempt on his life comes after the first attempt.

“I have been briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida, and I am glad that he is safe,” Vice President Kamala Harris tweeted on Sunday afternoon. “I am glad that he is safe.”

In addition, Harris claimed that violence had no place in the United States of America, a sentiment that was echoed by Harris’ choice for vice president, Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota.

Our friend Gwen and I are relieved to learn that Donald Trump is not in danger. Here in this country, there is no room for violence. In a post on X, Walz stated that “it is not who we are as a nation.”

The statement was released in response to the event that occurred earlier today. United States Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto, a Democrat from Nevada, has expressed her appreciation for the prompt response from law enforcement personnel.

“In our democracy, political violence can never be tolerated, and I look forward to the suspect being brought to justice,” Cortez-Masto wrote on X. “I am looking forward to getting justice for the suspect.”

As a result of allegations that shots were fired near President Trump today, I am relieved to learn that he is safe. While speaking on X, Senator Jacky Rosen made the statement that “political violence is never the answer and has no place in our democracy.”

In the race for re-election, the senator from Nevada is competing against Sam Brown, who is the Republican contender for the Senate. Brown expressed his appreciation for Trump’s well-being and expressed his honor at the opportunity to attend his event in Las Vegas on Friday.

The following is a statement that Brown made on his X account: “We continue to pray for his protection and the future of our nation.”The FBI has taken Routh into custody, and they are conducting an investigation to determine the reason for Routh’s arrest.
