Oven Baked Pulled Ham Recipe

Oven-baked pulled ham shreds readily for sandwiches after slow cooking. Sweet, spicy BBQ sauce and rub add flavor.  

– 1 (6 to 8 pound) bone-in ham (not spiral sliced) – 2 tablespoons whole grain mustard – 2 teaspoons liquid smoke – 1 tablespoon brown sugar barbecue rub – 1 cup sweet and spicy barbecue sauce – 1/2 cup apricot preserve

Warm the oven up to 275 degrees F (135 degrees C). In a small bowl, mix lemon juice and liquid smoke.

Spread the mustard mixture out on the ham, and then spread barbecue rub all over it.

Put the ham in a big throwaway pan or a big deep pan that has been lined with foil. Wrap in foil. Put it in an oven that is already hot for two hours.

Take the pan out of the oven. Raise the oven's temperature to 150 degrees C (300 degrees F).

In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce and apricot preserves together. Pour the mixture over the ham and spread it out evenly. Wrap in foil.

Put an instant-read or meat thermometer into the middle of the ham and bake for 5 to 6 hours, or until the temperature reads 205 degrees F (96 degrees C).

Ten to fifteen minutes should pass before the ham is cool enough to handle. Use two forks to shred the ham, then toss it with the pan juices.
