As ordered, the Masjid Committee plans to dismantle the contested component if the administration finds the mosque unconstitutional.

The hill state mosque committee's letter followed violent protests that the mosque's “illegal” building be demolished.

“We have sought permission from the Shimla municipal commissioner to demolish the unauthorised part of the mosque in Sanjauli,” committee member Mufti Mohammad Shafi Kasmi said.

The Sanjauli mosque Imam added, “We have lived here for decades and made this decision as Himachalis. There is no pressure on us.

Peace and brotherhood are our goals.” Attri verified receipt of representation.

Dev Bhoomi Sangarh Committee members who protested the mosque's unauthorized construction applauded the move.

“We welcome the move of the Muslim community and would be the first to hug them for taking this initiative in the larger interest,” samiti member Vijay Sharma said.
